Cádiz
1. Cadice is situated in the south
of Andalucia, on a coast called "Costa de la Luz" Surrounded
almost completly by the Atlantic Ocean it is located very
close to Sevilla and Jerez de la Frontera.
2. The nearest airports are in Jerez
de la Frontera, Sevilla and Málaga (in that order). After
you have told us at which airport you will arrive we will
e-mail you the relevant bus and train-connections. During
the weekend, in order to be able to solve quickly any problems
during the journey, we can be reached through an "emergency-
mobil".
3. Cádiz has approx. 145.000
inhabitants.
4. Even although Cádiz is
touristically well developed it still keeps its special charm.
The value for money is excellent.
5. There are a lot of possibilities
if you enjoy sport: football, volleyball, handball, tennis,
squash,…and of course all kinds of water sports like
sailing, surfing, canoeing and diving.
If there is a demand the school organises activities like
bungee jumping, canoe-tours, guided hiking and riding-tours
as well.
Melkart
6. Melkart is the Phoenician name
of Hercules, the founder of Cádiz.
7. The school is situated in the
historic part of the town, very close to the two most beautiful
squares in the city namely “Plaza Mina” and “Plaza
Alameda”. The school itself is located in a typical
Andalusian house, built in 1865. From the roof-deck of our
school it is possible to see the sea –in summer this
place is also used for barbecues and parties.
8. In low-season there are approx.
30 to 40 students studying at the school, during the main
season the number of students rises up to 65 students. Our
groups are limited to 7 students maximum.
9. Our students are come from all
parts of the world and from all different social classes:
students, employees, retired people,….
10. MELKART is part of Tandem International,
a collaboration of language-schools with members throughout
world. The name Tandem is a guarantee for a high quality language
school and high quality courses.
The Linguistic exchange (Intercambio) between students of
our school and Spanish people offers students the opportunity
to enlarge and deepen their knowledge of the language outside
the school.
These linguistic exchanges often result in friendships and
offer the students the possibility of easy integration right
from the start.
Interested students can arrange an ”Intercambio”
by asking at the school office.
11. All students, except the beginners,
will take a test at the beginning of the course. From that
it is possible to determine your level right from the start.
12. If there are any problems concerning
the course, the level , the accomodation or whatever, the
person responsible will help you with any problems you may
have. He is available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m in the school-office.
13. At the end of the course, on
the last day, you will receive a certificate with your level
and the completed hours of the course.
Accommodation
14. The flats are situated in the
centre of the town, normally very close to the school. The
flats are equipped with: kitchen, complete bath-room, washing-machine,
television, living-room. Bed-linen will be available, but
it is necessary that you bring your own towels.
15. As soon we receive your registration
we will confirm this immediately and the reservation of the
course and the accomodation will be made. Later on we will
tell you the address of your flat.
Let us know your time of arrival and we will help you by sending
you the appropriate train- and bus connections from the airport
to Cádiz.
16. The Families as well as the
flats are situated close to the school. We choose the families
in a way that will help the students feel “at home”
there.
Are you allergic, vegetarian, non-smoker – no problem
– we will have a suitable family for you!
17. There is a possibility to extend
your stay at your flat/with your family, but only if there
are no other reservations for the desired period of time.

General Conditions
18. Send us your registration (via
Internet, by post or by fax) and make a deposit payment of
120 €. After we have received your registration and your
deposit payment we will confirm this by e-mail immediately.
19. It is possible to pay via money
order or bank-transfer before the course starts or in cash
during the first course week directly at the office. Credit
cards are not accepted.
